A woman claims she has been married to the Berlin Wall for the last 29 years and has “Berliner-Mauer“ (Berlin Wall) as her surname to reflect their odd marriage.
Eija-Riitta Berliner-Mauer, 54, is diagnosed with “Objectum-Sexual” or “Objectophilia”, which is feelings of love, attraction, arousal and commitment for an inanimate objects. She claims she fell in love with the Berlin Wall’s pictures on TV when she was seven years old.
Since then, she began collecting her husband’s pictures and saved money to see the Wall. She claims she wed the Berlin Wall during her sixth trip in 1979 in front of some guests.
Berliner-Mauer currently lives in Liden in northern Sweden.
She remains a virgin but she insists she has a full relationship with her husband “Berliner-Mauer."
She told AP:
I find long, slim things with horizontal lines very sexy…The Great Wall of China's attractive, but he’s too thick – my husband is sexier.
She was heartbroken when the wall was torn down in 1989. While Reagan was making waves with the slogan, “tear down the walls” and everyone rejoiced, she was in grief.
Berliner-Mauer told AP:
What they did was awful. They mutilated my husband.
Since then, she has not visited the wall and only keeps a replica at home, which she lovingly takes care off.
She has now fallen in love with a nearby garden fence.
She not only has “Objectophilia." She also has infidelity problems.
Jokes aside, it is a disease, I hope her family gets her the right care.
