Cleopatra and Marc Antony were lovers from opposing political camps when they died, but is it possible they were buried together? And are they about to be found?
Zahi Hawass fits the template for the Harrison Ford character from the Indiana Jones movie series.
Zahi Hawass is the head of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities and wears a signature Fedora hat, the same hat as the fictional Indiana Jones character. And even at the age of 60 is still a very busy man.

With a team of 12 archaeologists and 70 excavators he believes he has found the tomb which holds the remains of Cleopatra, and perhaps even Marc Antony.

The Taposiris Magna temple is 28 miles west of Alexandria, Egypt and has 400 feet of tunnel below it in which Hawass discovered some clues which lead him to believe Cleopatra may be hidden away further in.

“We’ve found tunnels with statues of Cleopatra and many coins bearing her face, things you wouldn’t expect in a typical temple,” he said

Hawass has found a bust of the Roman General Marc Antony two weeks ago, which prompts him to believe Marc Antony's last wish of being buried with Cleopatra may have been carried out, despite the turbulent political struggles at the time.

The struggles came about due to Cleopatra's and Marc Antony's attempts to establish an Egyptian Empire, and that attempt placed both Cleopatra and Marc Antony on the team opposite that of the Roman Empire. Not a healthy place to be in those days.

Marc Antony wound up committing suicide by falling on his sword, and Cleopatra was reported to have committed suicide by asp, after being defeated by Octavian in the battle of Actium in 31BC.
Mr. Hawass is best know for his dealings in the promotion of the Tutankhamun exhibition at the O2 dome in London and the attempted return of the Rosetta Stone from the Britsh Museum.

If Hawass is correct and finds Cleopatra it will rival the find of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922 Howard Carter a British archaeologist. Although as always there are many competing archaeologists who deny the possibility of Marc Antony being found buried with Cleopatra and denounce the likelihood of being able to find the Queen of the Nile's burial site.
They should go to the theater more often, Indiana Jones always finds the treasure and always gets the girl, always.

But the search will have to wait until November now, the hunt has been called off until the summer temperatures are more moderate - any temperature under one hundred degrees F.
