American Idol winner David Cook conquers iTunes too

David Cook won handily by 12 million votes in this year’s AI competition. He is also enjoying great success in iTunes. Apple and Fox recently signed a partnership to carry songs from American Idol and many of them have reached the top 10 hits.

Yesterday, I saw David Cook’s name in the top three in iTunes, today three of his songs were in the top 4 along with Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida”. Cook’s first single “The Time of My Life” was the number one downloaded song.

The song “The Time of My Life” was written by Regie Hamm, the winner of the second American Idol Songwriting Competition.

David Cook is planning to release a rock music album later this year, but will first go on American Idol’s tour with the other eleven contestants. The tour will start on July 1st at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, AZ and will end on September 13th at BOK Center in Tulsa, OK.

Cook told AP:

“Even if it doesn't do well commercially, as long as I can put out a record I am proud of -- that's the goal right now,”

Thanks to iTunes, AI singers are getting more recognition very quickly.
