A bus driver for Farmington Public Schools was arrested on May 16 on suspicion of driving a school bus while drunk. People were calling on their cell phones as the woman was driving the bus erratically on a busy road in Farmington Hills Michigan.
According to HOMETOWNlife.com
the Farmington school board voted to fire the driver, a 41-year-old bus driver. She has been working for the Farmington district since October of 2001.

Farmington Hills police Chief Richard Niemisto said "We received information about 7:05 p.m. Friday from an off-duty Oakland County Sheriff's deputy. People were also calling on their cell phones."

Those who were reporting the incident said the woman was driving the school bus erratically.

The bus driver will not be named until she has been arraigned. According to police she did register .30 on a preliminary breath test. The limit in Michigan is .08. She received a ticket and was released on a $200 bond, according to Officer Niemisto.

It was reported that she had dropped off varsity and junior varsity girls soccer teams at nearby Walled Lake High School between 4-4:30 p.m.

Another bus driver was called to pick up the students after their game.

According to Farmington Hills police they found a vodka bottle on board the bus with some alcohol remaining inside the bottle.

Farmington Public Schools Supt. Sue Zurvalec said,
"We regret that this incident occurred. We are taking this very seriously and the bus driver will no longer be employed by the district. The safety of our students is always our number one concern."

The former bus drive will be arraigned later this month in 47th District Court in Farmington Hills.
