In the midst of talks of a possible Obama-Clinton ticket, former US President Jimmy Carter has weighed in on the issue.
For the last few months, there have been talks about either a possible Clinton-Obama ticket or an Obama-Clinton ticket. Even NBA legends Charles Barkley and Magic Johnson weighed in on the possibility. Barkley said that his dream ticket would be Clinton-Obama while Johnson said it would be Obama-Clinton. That possibility has brought upon much talk and hype.
However, not everybody has given into the hype of a possible joint ticket between Obama and Clinton. Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California was not one to give into the hype and excitement of a joint ticket between the two. Pelosi has said several times that a joint ticket between Obama and Clinton was highly unlikely.

Jimmy Carter has now weighed in on the idea. Carter said that Clinton may accept a position as Obama’s running mate. But, he said that Obama probably will not offer the spot to Clinton. This was during a Q & A session in Houston, Texas on Thursday night. Carter added that the possibility is not impossible. But, he said that Obama is highly likely to find somebody else for the job.
Carter said that picking Clinton as VP running mate will not help Obama out. He did name one person who Obama should pick, former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn. But, Carter did not give out any other names. Obama said that he would not be looking for a VP yet as the Democratic race is still going on.
The main reason Carter gave on why an Obama-Clinton ticket would be unlikely would be that it would be a ticket that the GOP would favor. But, Carter says that is what he thinks. Carter is a superdelegate that has not given his endorsement yet. Still, it is a strong possibility he could support Obama.
However, Carter has went under serious criticism and backlash from many in Washington for flying out to Syria to talk with the Palestinian militant group Hamas. The United States and the European Union (EU) already has Hamas placed as a terrorist organization.
On an interesting note, France had recently admitted it was in communications with Hamas. It was a move that was condemned by the administration of US President George W. Bush.
Should Carter endorse Obama, it would give the presumed GOP nominee Senator John McCain or Arizona powerful ammunition. It was only recent that McCain gave the implication that Hamas wants Obama as US President. This should be something to look out for in the near future.
In Clinton’s case, not many within the ranks of the GOP have bothered to think about her. Several months ago at a GOP donor event, a five-point attack plan against Obama was plotted out. It would look as if the GOP is fully prepared if there is ultimately an Obama-Clinton ticket.
