New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin is still plagued by poor performance issues, and now the City Council is unhappy with him also.
Hurricane Katrina doesn't appear to have given Mayor Nagin any of the experience in managerial systems or controls necessary to run a city of New Orleans size.
The city council of New Orleans has agreed they need to
investigate the Technology office of Nagins City hall programs. specifically the programs which deal with high crime areas and which should have had 200 cameras installed and working by now.
The other program is the
311 program with a budget of $2 million to be spent this year. The 3-1-1 program is an information line for residents of New Orleans within the 504 telephone area code.
Councilwomen Shelley Midura said
"I'm trying to get to the bottom of why (the 311 program) doesn't work,''
Also, the councilperson is unhappy that bulk of the high crime area cameras still don't work. In prior years Mayor Nagin faced lots of criticism from outside New Orleans, this time the rancor begins closer to home and could spell trouble for the mayor.
The 6-0 vote to go forward with the investigation is necessary if the council is to subpoena any of the records for the investigation.
