A California antique dealer who was found guilty of illegally transporting a minor into the United States for sexual purposes was found dead in his own home today. The cause of death is unknown, although foul play is not suspected.
John Carvahlo Diniz, 58, was convicted just three days ago on felony charges of bringing a 16-year-old boy from Portugal back in 2002. He was due to be sentenced in July for:

transporting a minor with intent to engage in illegal sexual activity and enticement to travel to engage in unlawful sexual activity

This morning, Diniz's roommate found him dead, with no signs of foul play according to a local news report.

Dinez owned two homes in Portugal, where he met the teenage boy and coerced him to come back to the United States with him in exchange for sex. Dinez did molest the teen prior to bringing him to back. Once back in the states, the teen refused to have sex with Dinez and told an adult about being molested.

Although it took six years to prosecute the case, justice seemed to have been done.

His death saved the tax payers from having to pay for his up-keep in prison.

What he did was wrong and I would consider him doing but a piece of crap. But the boy, did he allow himself be the creep's sex toy just to get into the U.S.?

    Really?

It appears the boy used subterfuge to get entry into the U.S., then reneged on an agreement.

Foul play? Maybe, maybe not. The investigation should be as thorough as that of any unexplained death.

One whole minute to come up with that profound observation.

Regardless of Portugal's 14 years, age-of-consent law, how do you know there was not an agreement between two homosexual males? Since the dead don't talk, we're just getting one side, but this won't stop the knee jerk response.

The man may have been have been a pervert, and I don't know what's worse, such a person or the fascist vigilante.

That is how it appears.....but ya know, a teen, even at 16, doesn't have the total mental facilities for informed consent.

He allowed himself to be molested by this pervert to get into the US. When he got here, it appears he denied said perv what he thought he would get. Good for kid. Where were the parents in all of this is my question?

Reneged on an agreement? A 16 year old making a deal with a pervert for sex to gain entry into the US only to withold sex from the perv once he gets into the US is hardly an agreement....the perv is FULLY responsible for taking advantage of a child in every way: sexually, ethically, contractually.

One less creep on our planet. As for the illegal child, deportation? Makes one wonder.
