In the picturesque western corner of England better known as Somerset, a giant cow has been discovered which is taller than the average adult male human - it is hoped that it will be named as Britain's tallest cow
The cow, (of which a picture can be found
here,) is of astronomical proportions. Standing a firm six foot tall, owners of the animal sanctuary in the beautiful county of Somerset are hoping to make the national press as proudly owning the country's tallest cow, and like any other entrant with fingers tightly crossed, the staff at the haven for animals have applied officially to the Guinness Book of Records.
The giant Friesian, standing at 6 foot six inches has been named as Chilli, and at the Ferne Animal Sanctuary in Chard, he certainly rules the roost. Arriving at the sanctuary for rescued animals when he was just a cute six days old, he has grown from strength to strength and now weighs in at an eye watering, 1000kg (roughly a tonne.)
Worker, Jo Fox at the sanctuary told BBC News,
"We have checked farms and sanctuaries across the country and we have been unable to find a cow even near his height."
"He is lucky to still be alive."
She added on his arrival into her care.
She said,
"It is unusual for Friesians to live to this age as they are usually slaughtered for beef in their youth."
Funnily enough, the western part of the UK holds the current record for the tallest cow when a similar cow was recorded in Dorset being six foot one inch last year.
We'll keep our hooves crossed for Chilli.
