Singer-song writer Dottie Rambo was killed early Sunday morning. She was on her way to Texas for a Mother's Day performance when the bus she was in ran off the highway and hit an embankment in Missouri. The seven other people in the bus were injured.
Gospel music legend, Dottie Rambo, was asleep in the bus on her way to Fountain of Life Church in North Richland Hills Texas for an evening Mother's Day performance. She was to sing with Lulu Roman and Naomi Sego.

Senior pastor of Fountain of Life said that on Sunday morning a tribute concert was held for Ms. Rambo by Roman and Sego. Ms. Rambo's chair on the stage was covered with 200 roses.

Pastor Thomas said,
"Now she tells the angels how to sing those songs."

It is believed that the accident might have been weather related as severe storms and tornadoes hit the region.

The other seven in the bus were sent to hospitals in Springfield moderate to severe injuries.

Ms. Rambo was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame last year and the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in 2006.

She was more than 2,500 published songs some of which include "He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need" and the 1982 Gospel Music Association Song of the Year, "We Shall Behold Him."

Dolly Parton said that Rambo was a "dear friend" In a statement Parton said,

"I know Dottie is in heaven in the arms of God right now, but our earth angel will surely be missed. "Dottie was a dear friend, a fellow singer, songwriter and entertainer, and as of late my duet singing partner.

"Dottie, stand by the river and wait for me. I will always love you, Dolly

That's really sad! The part that I think is the most strange, is how was she the ONLY one that died on that bus? And the driver lived?

    Welcome to digitaljournal Julybug.
Since there aren't too many details I am assuming that she might have been sleeping. The accident occurred around 2 a.m. The driver most likely would have had his seat belt on and possibly Rambo had laid down to sleep and didn't have a seat belt on.

Thanks for the welcome! I hear you are a DJ "seasoned veteran!" *wink* And that's really unfortunate about Rambo. I bet she just wasn't prepared for the impact. :-(

    You are welcome Julybug.
I guess that I would be classified as one of the seasoned veterans. I have been here almost a year and half.

It gets crazy at times but it is also fun at times. It is very addicting.

Very sad, but like the pastor said:
"Now she tells the angels how to sing those songs."
She will be singing up there.

She will be missed in gospel music as she is a legend.
She was 74 and had been singing since she was 12.

Great career. Singing about god all her life, I am sure the god will be very pleased with her.

I have always enjoyed the programs that Dottie was featured on. She was a very humble servant of the Lord. Somehow, I believe that Dottie was praying when the accident happened. And along with that prayer, it is highly probable to believe that she asked the Lord to take her home, where she longed to be. She stated that she was looking forward to that Day. The majority of people who know not the Lord, do not understand why anyone would like to die and go home to be with the Lord. Heaven is a wonderful place, and the Lord states in HIS word that the death of a saint is precious in HIS eyes. That is because they have run their trial here on this Earth, and the Lord is happy they have run their race. Thanks, Mrs. Jan

Thank-you for your comment Mrs. Jan and welcome to digitaljournal.

The Lord must have said "It is time to come home now Dottie"

Wrecks are strange that way. I've worked wrecks where you would think that no one could have survived and the people involved all be ok other than some scrapes and bruises, I've seen wrecks where you'd think nobody would have been injured and there be fatalities.

Rest in Peace, Dottie. You truly did have a voice that would bless a choir of angels.

A police officer that I know told about an accident that he was called to just after he had become an officer. He said the accident wasn't that bad and the driver, a woman, got out of the car. He went and opened the passenger's door where the drivers teen daughter was. He said when he opened the door to help her out that she was dead.
He said that he was so shocked and upset that he had to go to his car and that he cried.
