On the May 11 episode of CBS’ “Face The Nation,” former two-time Democratic presidential hopeful and former North Carolina Senator John Edwards weighed in on the Democratic race.
Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards, a two time former Democratic presidential hopeful for the 2004 and 2008 Democratic races was on Face The Nation on May 11. He addressed the current state of the race and Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton of New York.

After the May 6 contests, Clinton’s campaign has suffered. She was swiftly defeated by Obama in North Carolina. In Indiana, she barely defeated Obama by two points. Also, Clinton’s campaign was shaken up several times. She had lost several key people that were integral to keeping her campaign afloat and raising the necessary funds. They either resigned and/or defected to the Obama camp.

Still, Clinton refuses to drop out.

Weighing in, Edwards said that it only made Clinton stronger. He added that Clinton has a strong support for her continued campaign. Many have told Clinton to drop. But, Clinton has refused to listen to any of them.

But, Edwards explained that the delegate math is against Clinton. While Clinton has strong support, the delegate math is a different story. Then Edwards explained that he dropped out because he would not be able to secure enough delegates to clinch the Democratic nomination.

While Edwards said that Clinton has gotten stronger, he said she needs to be careful not to damage the prospect and cause of the Democratic Party. Edwards also said that the superdelegates will probably announce their preferences by June. DNC Chair Howard Dean said that the superdelegates must decide by June.

Currently, the fate of Michigan and Florida are being talked over as well. Dean said that a compromise will be reached by the end of May. He also said that the other forty-eight states must be respected because they played by the rules.
