Stephen Colbert was named the “Webby Person of the Year” on Monday night, he already owns the title of “Greatest Living American”.
The annual
Webby Awards honors the individuals who excel on the internet, including web sites, online film and video, mobile sites and interactive advertising worldwide.
The winners are chosen by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), a global organization of industry experts and technology innovaters, such as David Bowie, Harvey Weinstein, Matt Groening, Jamie Oliver, Internet co-inventor Vinton Cerf, RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser, Chief Creative Officer Alex Bogusky and by popular vote.
This year’s “Webby Person of the Year”
goes to the “Greatest Living American” Stephen Colbert.

Greatest Living American” in Google, you will see the top articles point to Stephen Colbert. Thanks to the efforts of his fans, who attached “Greatest Living American” and “Stephen Colbert” and posted comments and added articles everywhere. This put Stephen Colbert on top of the Google search list.
The Webby Award was given to Colbert for his success and use of the internet. He coined the word “truthiness”, which was later chosen as the “
Word of the Year” in 2006 by Merriam-Webster. In Facebook, he became popular when a group wanted him to run for presidential elections this year. He was also able to get many of his fan to offer donations online for DonorsChoose.org. No doubt he made a big impact this year on the web.
Others who received Webby Awards were Black Eyed Peas member “will.I.am”, who won the “Webby Artist of the Year” for his “Yes I Can” video, which enlisted celebrities reciting Barack Obama’s famous speech and tagline.
