GodTube calls itself non-denominational and features content from "all of the traditional Christian denominations" and has gone so far as to copyright the phrase "Jesus 2.0." It recently secured $30 million in new investment money.
ReadWriteWeb just posted a story on
GodTube.com, a social site that offers Flash video with chat and live video. The site launched last summer, out of Dallas, TX, and according to PaidContent.com
it has been among the fastest growing websites online.
According to the article, GodTube has just received $30 million in funding after being valued at approx $150 million. The news has everyone wondering just how much money the website is going to make off religion and what the real agenda behind the site might be.
Readwriteweb pulled some copy from the Terms of Service that says the site prohibits uploading content "contrary to the evangelization of Jesus Christ and His teachings, or constitutes blasphemy, or is otherwise offensive to our online Christian community."
So who makes the call on what is Christian and what isn't? Will Catholics be given the same rights as Baptists? What about the Mormons?
Is viral video ministry marketing the next big thing for spreading the good word? And if so, is it a good thing?
Either way,
GodTube.com is here to stay it seems and with $30 million in new investment, it may be around for a very long time.
