Calvin Tillie who was on parole has been accused of shooting seven-year-old Alexis Goggins six times at point-blank in the face. The little girl threw herself between the gun and her mother. She has lost her right eye and has had six surgeries.
Detroit -- A judge in Detroit has ruled that there is enough evidence to bind Calvin Tillie over for trial in Wayne Circuit Court for the shooting that took place Dec. 2, 2007. May 8 has been set for his next court date.

Alexis's mother, Seliethia Parker, called her friend, Alisha Ford, to come and pick them up because her furnace was not working. According to Ford's testimony at the preliminary examination Tillie just came out of the shadows near the home and took them all at gunpoint.

According to detnews.com Ford stated,
"He showed up at my car with a gun in his hand. I said, 'You're not going with me,' "He pointed the gun at me and told me he needed to go to Six Mile."

Ford pretended that she needed gasoline and stopped at a gas station and placed a call to 911 for help and tried to stall for time. As she looked out to her car she saw the flash of gunshots inside her car.

According to Parker's testimony when Tillie fired a shot her daughter threw herself from the backseat and put herself between them. Parker wrestled with him for the gun as he continued shooting.

Parker said,
"I was fighting, I was swinging and I was screaming."

When the shooting stopped Parker had been shot in the arm and a bullet grazed the side of her face. Little Alexis was curled up on the floor under the steering wheel. She was bleeding from her eye, temple, chin, cheek and both arms and crying for her mother.

Detroit police officers who had arrived on the scene flagged down a Detroit Fire Department ambulance that was taking an unidentified pregnant woman to the hospital. When the woman took one look at Alexis she pulled herself out of the ambulance and laid down on the seat of one of the police cars even though the baby's head was crowning.

Detroit Police Sgt. Nathan Duda said
"She told them that the little girl needs it a lot more than (she did). That's a hero in my mind, but we never got her name in all the confusion."

Both mom and daughter were covered in blood and were rushed to Detroit Receiving Hospital. Alexis spent two months in the hospital and lost her eye. She is still undergoing therapy.

Judge Donna Robinson Milhouse has ordered Tillie to stand trial in Wayne Circuit Court. The charges against him include first-degree child abuse, assault with intent to murder, hostage-taking, assault with a dangerous weapon, and being a felon in possession of a handgun.
Tille could go to prison for life if convicted as he is also charged as a four-time felony offender.

A photo of Alexis and her mother can be seen here.

I saw her on the local news and she looked like any happy go-lucky seven year old except for her where her right eye should have been.

Hopefully he will be locked up for good.

It is terrible what this man did to this little girl. She was a brave little girl only wanting to protect her mother.

I remember this story! Alexis is learning disabled and I remember reading that they weren't sure if she had done it for her mother's well being or just on reflex - pfaw! Crap, I say. This litte girl was a hero.

Tillie was the mom's ex boyfriend. He was a punk and I was so heartbroken by this story that I am elated to hear that the piece of trash will stand trial. Thank you for posting this!

Life in prison is the minimum penalty this guy deserves.

Thanks KB for the additional information.
The first that I heard of it is when I saw the little girl on the local news last night.

I am just glad that she didn't get killed by the worthless piece of crap.

    I agree Bob.

That would be the maximum that he could get in Michigan.
I just hope that it will be life without a chance of parole.

You are welcome! I only remembered it because of the statement about her being special education and how they weren't "sure" if her saving her mom' life was a fluke. Pissed me right off because of it. And then the ex boyfriend stalking the mom. Sigh.......I'm so happy the hand of GOD shined brightly here today.

    I agree KB.

I would think that it was her love for her mother and wanting to protect her. No one in a situation like that has time to think anything through. They will react according to the type of person they are to begin with.

That's simply unbelievable. I'm amazed she:

    Survived
    Fought off the bastard
and was given an ambulance by possibly the nicest mother in history

    And they say we're doomed.

Life is the least they could give. This is a guy that most people wouldn't even care if he committed suicide.

    And neither would I, frankly.

As bad as this story is, and it is terrible, it showed how some put their own welfare above themselves.

The lady who was giving birth and got out of the ambulance so the two shooting victims could be rushed to the hospital showed what a real caring person she was.

    This is what I mean.

Some people deserve the mercy of the Court. Others deserve the Hangman.

Shooting a seven-year-old six times? Tell me what value that psycho will ever be to society.

Throw book, then key. Would prefer to throw switch.

Very well written, Picasso. It's just the story that sucks.

I agree Johnny that this creep does not deserve to live.

Thank-you for the compliment, TheMadKing, right? Or rather the ex-TMK. :-)

Yes KB this might be a good place for an "eye for an eye" to be taken literally.

There are awards for bravery. Both the little girl and the woman who let them have the ambulance that she was in need an award.

I agree with almost everything everyone has to say here. But just a minute - a four time felony offender??? I'd like to know more about his offenses. Is there a problem with the justice system here? How come no-one has brought this up yet? How did he even get into a position to be a threat to this heroine girl and her mother?

    His offenses are;
    Police Officer - Assault/Resist/Obstruct
Assault with Intent to Rob while Armed
    Home Invasion - 1st Degree
which means someone was in the house when he broke in,
Cut, Break, Tap Wire or Cable
Assault with Dangerous Weapon (Felonious Assault)

Tillie was a former boyfriend of the mother and had been harassing her and
"popping up in the middle of the night."
