Police suspect the woman behind the high-end prostitution ring in Washington D.C. might have killed herself near her mother's mobile home.

Deborah Jeane Palfrey, 52, was convicted on April 15 by a federal jury of running a prostitution service for members of Washington’s political elite such as Senator David Vitter and others. Florida police believe she may have committed suicide in Tarpon Springs.

The police told AP they found a dead body believed to be Palfrey in a shed this morning near her mother’s mobile home. She left a suicide note but the police did not reveal the contents.

When she was convicted this April, she denied the charges and said if any of the women in her escort service had engaged in sex acts for money, they did so without her knowledge.

The police will confirm details soon.

I believe they are confirming it HER and confirming it a suicide that she hung herself at her mom's mobile home shed with a nylon rope. notes were left in the moble home.

I'm not buying the story. That gal had the testicles of politicians in her hands, and the opportunity to make money from the associations post sentence. I can see that getting her killed.

This article says she predicted that others will kill her and make it look like suicide.

DC Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey predicted she would be "suicided" on several occasions both recently and as far back as 17 years ago - comments that now appear ominous in light of the announcement that the former head of a Washington escort service allegedly killed herself today.

"If taken into custody, my physical safety and most probably my very life would be jeopardized," she wrote in August 1991 following an attempt to bring her to trial, "Rape, beating, maiming, disfigurement and more than likely murder disguised in the form of just another jailhouse accident or suicide would await me," said Palfrey in a handwritten letter to the judge accusing the San Diego police vice squad of having a vendetta against her.
