Twelve people were injured and one student died today as a dump truck and a school bus collided on Highway 22 in Pendleton County, Kentucky.
Ten children and drivers of both the vehicles are being treated for minor injuries at the hospital.
There were elementary, middle and high school students on the bus at the time of the collision.
The tragic accident happened shortly after 7 a.m. ET on Thursday and police have not released the details on what caused the crash along the twisting highway.
According to Sheriff Craig Peoples, "It is a very crooked road. We have a lot of motorcycle accidents. We have dump trucks turn over at least once a year."
The dump truck was hauling stones from a quarry and flipped over, losing its load on the highway and that the school bus had extensive damage to the driver's side. That was all the details that Sheriff Peoples would give out at the time.
Both drivers will be required to undergo drug and alcohol screening, which is standard procedure.
