article imageBush Heckler Punches Wheelchair-Bound Girl

By Samantha A. Torrence     Apr 26, 2008 in Crime
A wheelchair bound girl with cerebral palsy is punched after her parents tell a heckler to quit harassing Jenna Bush at a lecture.
At a book signing on Tuesday, 18 year old Maureen Lovetro attended a lecture given by Laura and Jenna Bush for about their new book "Read All About It." Maureen has cerebral palsy and must sit in a wheelchair, with the help of her parents she was able to see the First Lady who she met previously in 2004.
Laura and Jenna Bush left the building only to be greeted with harassing and obscene language from German Talis, 22. John Lovetro, Maureen's father confronted the man over his behavior.
"He began yelling about Iraq and Iran at Jenna Bush. She was waving at the crowd. I told the guy, 'What are you doing? Shut up. This is about a child and books,' " said John Lovetro. "He was unperturbed. I said, 'Get out of here! You're being a moron!' "
In retaliation German allegedly punched Maureen and was then arrested after the attack on the girl.
German Talis is a member of "We Are Change" a 911 truther movement supposedly headed by Alex Jones. 911blogger.com claims that Talis was framed and cites eyewitness reports by German Talis' friends. The statement indicates that German was accosted by Lovetro who used his daughter's wheelchair as a weapon. Other eyewitnesses say German was punching Lovetro's daughter and continued to attack after her father moved her wheel chair away. German's friends claim Lovetro backed him into a corner after provoking "Gary" and then began to beat on him.
Talis was released on 4/23.
