article imageMike Capps, The Wii is "Like a Wired Virus"

By Aaron Robson     Apr 21, 2008 in Entertainment
President of Epic Games (Gears of War, Unreal Tournament III), Mike Capps lashes out in a frenzy towards the casual gaming system, Nintendo Wii.
It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, 'Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it," Capps tells gaming site IGN.
"So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on."
Gamesradar.com says "That will change, Mike." With the new Mario Kart game racing into stores within less than a week, Wii owners are bound to pick up the console for another month before turning it off again. "If we don't see you (in our rear view, obviously) online after April 27, May 27 or even December 27, we'll be extremely disappointed."
In other moments of the interview, Capps shoots down the idea of Epic Games ever working with a console viciously saying, "No, we go forward, not back."
