Bernie Peng is in love with Tammy Li. So much so that he wants to marry her. When it come time to propose the financial software programmer wanted to do something completely unique.
Tammy's favorite video game is "Bejeweled." Bernie decided to reprogram that game so that when Tammy reached a certain score a ring and a marriage proposal would pop up on the screen.
"I thought it was pretty cool, in a nerdy way," Peng told The Star-Ledger of Newark.
The reprogramming wasn't as easy as the programmer thought it would be. It took him a month before he was able to spring the new and improved game on Tammy.
Tammy reached the needed score. And she said..........
Well it appears since the couple are tying the knot over the Labor Day weekend the geek got his mate. PopCap, the company based out of Seattle will be treating the Jersey City couple to a trip to Seattle for part of their honeymoon. The company is also providing a copy of "Bejeweled" for each of the wedding guests.
Most video game companies would frown on people manipulating their games," said Garth Chouteau, a spokesman for PopCap.
"But it won him a woman. As a bunch of geeks we have to say, 'Bernie, hats off to you.'"
