Op-Ed: Is Barack Obama the Anti-Christ?

On the web a rumor is flying, is Barack Obama the appointed Anti-Christ? Will he bring about the end of the word in a guise of false hope or is this just another Political Smear.

What do George W. Bush, Vladmir Putin, David Hasselhoff, Pope Benedict XVI, Adolf Hitler, and Barney the Dinosaur all have in common with Barack Obama? They have all been named the Anti-Christ. When you type in the words Anti Christ, or Antichrist, the Yahoo search assist has Barack Obama Antichrist in the first available slot, when you type in Barack Obama the Yahoo search assist has Barack Obama Antichrist in the second slot. Upon searching for Barack Obama Antichrist the Yahoo search results turn up 483,000 hits. Obviously this is quite the popular albeit underground assertion. (Note: This was a few months ago when I started writing this piece, I am not sure how accurate it is for today. But can you believe that only a few months ago those were the "stats?" Usually this title would be shrugged off as either a political smear, or a fanatical misinformed bit of hype. However, if we are to understand why our dear Barack Obama has been named an Antichrist we need to look at the Bible and End Time Prophecies of many religions and secular means. Who is the Antichrist? According the the Apostle John there will not be just one Antichrist, so it is important to distinguish between a Antichrist and the Antichrist. An antichrist is one "Who is a liar, but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denies the Father, and the Son." (1 John 2:22); "And every spirit that dissolveth Jesus, is not of God; and this is Antichrist" (1 John 4:3). So according to John anyone who does not declare Jesus is the Christ is antichrist. That seems like a logical determination. Also according to John the Apostle, antichrist was already in the world even in his time. It seems he was simply talking about the non-believers. The Antichrist, however, is a far different story. It is time for a comparison between prophecy, identification, and how Obama fits in it all. The Antichrist will be a Jew of the tribe of Dan. This identifying ancestry was first defined by Tomaso Malvenda. He supported his claims from a verse in Genesis which describes the tribe of Dan as a poisonous snake.

Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward. Genisis 49:17

He also misquotes Jeremiah 8 by saying the armies of Dan will devour the earth. Either way, Malvenda's claims, however skilled he was in historical interpretation of the Old Testament, these claims seem unsubstantiated. For kicks, lets give him the benefit of the doubt and see if Barack Obama fits in with this identifier. Barack Obama's father is Kenyan. While some African American scholars claim that much of Africa is descended from the lost tribes of Israel, there is no direct correlation between the tribe of Dan and Kenyans. There is some mention of Ethiopians perhaps holding this lineage. There are many Africans who have DNA that can be traced to various tribes of Israel. Barack Obama's mother is of Irish decent. Her father Stanley Armour Dunham, has two names of lineage associated with the Scots and the Irish. The Irish are said to be descendants of the Tribe of Dan, who some will recognize by the name of the Tuatha de Danaan ( The children of Dana). The Tuatha de Danaan invaded Ireland and defeated the Fomori, the original settlers of Ireland. The correlation between the tribe of Dan and snakes seems eerie when one considers that St. Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland. So yes, it seems that if this were correct there is a possibility that Barack Obama is of the Tribe of Dan. The Book of Daniel Anti-Christ The Book of Daniel predicts a horned beast that will rise to conquer the world. Supposedly this beast is to rise from Europe, specifically Grecia. Many speculate that this is simply in reference to current tyrants of the time, others seem to think this is a prediction of the Anti-Christ rather than just an AntiChrist figure. Of all the cryptic texts in Daniel, there are some well defined prerequisites for the Anti-Christ. He will rule 10 kingdoms, 3 of which will be weakened and 7 which will be powerful. He will be a great speaker, as well as boastful and arrogant. He will rule with the deception of peace, but will cause much death. He will also barter a peace treaty with Israel that will only last a short time in which he will erect a statue of himself to be worshipped. He will also have temples in the holy mountains where he will reside.

Daniel 8:23-25 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

It remains to be seen if Barack Obama will even become the President of the United States or gain control of the United Nations, or European Union, but it is certain he is a great speaker. While Obama also attempts to be humble, many argue that he is quite arrogant and thinks much of himself. Evidence of this mindset in his recent remarks about the simple folk of the Mid-West. Personally I think he sets himself up for the precedent of arrogance by expecting intelligent people to believe most of the semantics that pour from his lips. Barack Obama does have some real estate ventures, but none have been yet found in the holy land. The question remains though, will he attempt to set up a peace treaty with Israel? He does believe the country is a wound and a festering sore when it comes to America's foreign policy. He also seemed to do a flip flop when speaking to AIPAC and pledge American support for Israel under his presidency. Could this fit in with the End Times prophecy that the Anti-Christ will make a pact with Israel set to last for 7 years only to break it within 3 1/2 years and launch an invasion? The time line set up by the betrayal of Israel could be used to indicate the next President of the United States as an Anti-Christ if we believe that the world will come to an end by December 21st 2012 as is predicted by the Mayan Calender and the I Ching. Think about this time line 2008, the president is elected and in 2009 sworn into office. A pact set between the next American President and Israel that would end in about 3 1/2 years would fall in 2012. The attack of Israel is part of the end times prophecy along with the rise of the Anti-Christ. These fun little coincidences can be found about virtually any politician in the modern era. Indeed even John McCain has a shot at claiming the title of Anti Christ. Until it happens, it is wise that we keep watch on all Anti-Christ Nominees.
