Museums are usually considered to be a place of elegance and culture. But why can't they be of something awful and abnormal?
Sure, you can learn a thing or two if you visited the ROM (the Royal Ontario Museum) or see the latest art exhibit at the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art), but visiting a place to just point out and laugh at the oddities may be a bit more fun and worth while.
There are such places around the world and yes they are called museums no matter what you may say or think.
Museum of Medieval Torture Instruments, located in Prague.
This museum provides exactly what the title suggests. A weird visit and a chance to learn about more than 60 human torture devices (with on display floor models). These models are also included with English tutorials and if you act now, admission is only $12.00.
The Museum of Bad Art
, could be considered to be held in any bad artist's house, but the official location is in Boston, Massachusetts.
Lucky for you, the admittance price is free (cause no one would pay to see something a monkey could do). The founder Scott Wilson was inspired after he saw a heaping pile of trash and thought it to be art due to all of the interesting angles and colors within the heap. So if you are in the mood of making yourself feel better about your artistic skills, visit his collections.
Icelandic Phallological Museum
, in Husavik, Iceland.
A museum for brushing up on your Icelandic Mammals. This place is said to hold every single mammal with in Iceland in some shape or form, whether it be bones on the wall or the actual animal floating in a jar of liquid.
Winchester Mystery House
, San Jose, California.
A house that only Escher could ever dream of, and now also Sarah Winchester. Every single stair leads to the unexpected wall, or even a door might have you falling through the ceiling.
The list goes on as there are many oddities to be seen around the world.
