Marine finally captured

By Owen Weldon     Apr 11, 2008 in Crime
A marine who was accused of raping and killing a pregnant colleague has been arrested south of the border in Mexico, according to the FBI.
FBI agents have been after Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean for months now and the marine was finally captured in Mexico on Thursday night after a three-month international manhunt.
Laurean is now being charged in the death of Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach. Her body and her fetus were found buried in Laurean's yard back in January.
Sources say that Laurean's wife aided in the investigation and that is how officials found the Marine. Laurean's wife refused to help her husband as he hid from authorities in Mexico.
Officials involved in the investigation said that the Marine asked multiple times for his wife's help and asked his family and his wife for resources after he fled in January to Mexico.
The young marine could stay in Mexico for the next year or two because he is awaiting extradition and Laurean could try and fight extradition.
After the marine was arrested he was asked if he wanted to say anything and he replied that he wanted to see proof that he committed the crime.
The woman was found buried on his property and right after she was found all of a sudden he disappears, this sounds like enough proof to me.
