Gamespot receives a first-hand look at the new Guitar Hero game, featuring one of the top rock bands of all time, Aerosmith. But only 60 per cent of the track list are filled with Aerosmith songs.
The Guitar Hero franchise has generated over $1 billion in sales, and there is no question that the franchise is one of the most widely recognized gaming franchises in the world. The latest game has now gotten together with one of the biggest bands in the world to create a power house combination.
Some may be skeptical on whether adding Aerosmith to the mix will be a good advancement for the Guitar Hero franchise. When Guitar Hero II made the leap to Guitar Hero Encore: Rock the 80's, all the developers did was slap a new name on an old game. So many will be pleased to know that the crew at Neversoft has gone out of its way to not just use the name of Aerosmith, but add the same look, sound and personality of the band.
Although a game featuring Aerosmith as the main band of the game does sound good, it makes you wonder if it will be do to lack of variety. Not to worry, the game will still have all of the fan favorite characters that have made previous titles enriched with personality. Such characters as, Axel Steele, Johnny Nalpam and Izzy Sparks will be there rocking out in the front lines. Also, for a game that features one band for the cover, it is surprising to know that up to date, only 60% of the songs on the current track list are Aerosmith.
The career mode will probably be the highlight of the game. It will allow the player to live the life of Aerosmith. You will be on a timeline depicting the career of the band, from their first gig at Nipmuc High School, to concerts they have preformed at in current times.
The newest Guitar Hero game is shaping up to be even better than its predecessor. Time can only tell, but you will only have to wait till June.
