Five homeless men in Ft. Lauderdale had their lives threatened by a man who chased them with a chainsaw. "The Chainsaw Man" chased them over some distance and even is said to have fired shots at them. No charges were filed.
Ft. Lauderdale, FL - 49-year old Stephen Sticht was not charged after chasing the five homeless men with his chainsaw. Instead, he was ordered to stay away from the men and give up his chainsaw.

The men told the police that Strict had chased them with the chainsaw through fields and over railroad tracks. They also claim he fired shots at them.

Sticht denies the claims. He says the chainsaw is to cut down brush where the men rest. He also says they were upset after he called police to complain about homeless men loitering near his home and business.

Records show that in 1999 Strict chased someone else with a chainsaw and was charged with trespassing with a weapon. The homeless men also have criminal records.

All go to court April 17th.

Exactly, what more evidence they need, maybe a sawed up victim.

Probably trying to figure the calibre of the saw. Didn't somebody say shots were fired..?

Yes, they did but nothing about the man having a gun was said. Maybe it was the chainsaw backfiring! LOLOL!

I wonder about the truth of the homeless men.

    Running after the five men,
"with the chainsaw through fields and over railroad tracks."

That 49 year old man would really have to be in good shape to carry a chainsaw while running through fields and over railroad tracks chasing those men.

How hard is it to "run" through fields and over railroad tracks carrying something as large as a chain saw?

    Sounds pretty fishy to me.

I know what you mean, Cyn. And all the while, keeping the thing running...if that's what he did. Then they mention a gunshot...but nothing was said about a gun. What...did the guy do, toss it somewhere? I doubt it.

I had thought about that also of him keeping it running while he was running.

I would say, impossible. You couldn't run through a field and over railroad tracks doing that. Picture what a field is like. The five homeless are not telling the truth or at least the whole truth.

When I wrote this up, I was thinking of the chainsaw massacre movies...and I don't see this as possible either. I'm just wondering if the judge is going to laugh this one right out of court!

He should as I see this as impossible to have been done.

From what I gathered from the story, everyone of these men have been in trouble before...so the judge may very well throw it out of court.

He should and it seems just taking it to court is a waste of tax payer's money.

For something like this...yeah, it is a waste of taxpayer's money.

I disagree, if the guy is running around with a chainsaw and has a previous history of the same thing he is obviously a bit off ...I don't see it as a waste of money. Though, I do wonder just what kind of criminal records the homeless guys have on file.

I thought I read something about loitering around the chainsaw guy's property. It doesn't say specifically what these homeless guy's were in trouble for previously.
