French War Graveyard Victim To Racist Attack

Vandals have desecrated 148 graves in the biggest WWI cemetery in France. All of those graves were of Muslims who had served their country.

A pig's head was hung on one of the headstones in a vile insult to Islam. Slogans insulting Islam and the French Muslin justice minister were also spread throughout the graveyard. During World War One about 78,000 colonial subjects of France died protecting the nation. Many of those were Muslims form North Africa. The Notre Dame de Lorette war cemetery is the site of some of the largest battles that took place during the war. There are about 100 police officials on the site investigating this hateful crime of racism. Those responsible will face rapid detention and punishment for their crime according the French President Nicolas Sarkozy. In April 2007 two men painted Nazi slogans and swastikas on 50 graves in the Muslim sector of the cemetery. Those men were sentenced to one year of prison for their crime.
