Faith, a five-year old dog born without her front legs and was saved from being euthanized by a family who taught her to walk on her hind legs, inspiring all that she meets including wounded soldiers.
Faith was given little chance of surviving when she was born but the family that took her in taught her how to overcome her obstacles of missing her front legs. They taught her to walk on her front legs and now Faith walks like this naturally.
CBS News reports that Faith was born to a litter of seven puppies all of which died. When a boy was asked to help bury the dead puppies he found that one was still alive, being smothered by the mother dog. The puppy had no front hands to suckle and was literally being smashed by her mother.
The boy took the dog home to his mother, Jude Stringfellow who was not happy with the new family member. She finally gave in and after a few surgeries the dog seemed to be ok but could not walk. The family taught the dog to "hop" on her back legs to get around.
The actual walking, according to Jude Stringfellow began when another puppy bit Faith on the foot while she was hopping and she took off running on her back legs, creating her new-found ability to walk on her back legs.
In an interview on the CBS Early Show is seen responding to the phrase "Let's Go." When the phrase is said she shoots up onto her back feet and begins wagging her tail and walking around ready to go somewhere.
The dog has become an inspiration to all that see her, including wounded soldiers, so much that Faith has been made an honorary Sargent in the United States Army
The Stringfellow family say that saving the dog has changed their lives completely for the better.
