Two more arrests in connection over the abduction of Yorkshire school girl, Shannon Matthews reveal that more family members of her step father were involved in a dark world of child porn and deceit
The case of the recent abduction and discovery of the nine year old school girl, Shannon Matthews seems to be thickening by the day. So far this week, her step father, a young man who campaigned for the safe return of his step daughter has found himself arrested over possession of indecent images of children. Today two female members of his family have been arrested for their involvement in what can only be described as a dark and disturbing story.
The school girl vanished on the 19th of February and was found by detectives alive and well in the base of a bed at her uncle's flat 24 days later. The case since then has torn open a community full of unemployment, drink, drugs and dysfunctional families.
Today in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, two more of the Meehan family have been taken into police custody. Shannon's step fathers' mother and his sister were taken away by police officers earlier today BST from their home. The subject of Alice Meehan 49, and Amanda Hyett, 25 arrests are still unclear. It is thought, however, that Mrs Hyett had assisted the kidnapper in abducting the girl.
Shortly after
Shannon was found, the uncle of her step father, Michael Donovan, 39 (who changed his name after becoming an obsessive fan of Jason Donovan, the Aussie soap and singing star,) was arrested for kidnapping and false imprisonment of the little girl. So far, Shannon has remained int he care of social services and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
Donovan's trial has been set for November the 11th.
