Southwest Airlines has always boasted about having the lowest fares available. Have their low, low prices put their passengers at risk?
Today, FAA inspectors came forth stating that their jobs were threatened and their regular reports of noncompliance regarding Southwest Airlines were ignored. Douglas Peters, an FAA inspector was visited by a former manager at one point, and the manager began talking about how important Peters' family is, and how his job could be in jeopardy if he were to proceed as is.
Southwest Airlines is not the only airline guilty of this, but they are one of the worst. They knowingly put their passengers at risk by allowing planes with problems to leave the ground. As of right now, Southwests founder and executive chairman offered an apology, saying they had people making decisions they were not educated to make. Would this have been the same response and apology he would have been making had one of his planes, one of his full planes as Southwest flights tend to be, crashed, killing all on board? And for what? Because Southwest didn't want to take the time to properly inspect their aircraft. This is disgusting.
