Mariah Carey has surpassed the King by having more number-one hit songs on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. With her latest song “Touch My Body,” it was her18th hit song to reach the top of the charts.
Perez Hilton reports that Mariah Carey has broken records with her new hot single, “Touch My Body”, which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. With this hit, she has 18 hit songs on the Billboard chart. She thus surpassed music legend Elvis Presley who had 17 hits at #1.
If she adds two more #1 hits, then she will equal the Beatles' record.
The song is part of her new album, E=MC², which will be officially released April 15. Carey will also be participating on American Idol on April 16 and mentor the Idol finalists. She will also appear in the “American Idol Gives Back” two-hour TV special on April 9.
On the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart, "Touch My Body" has netted a record-setting 285,000 debut, while also reaching over 115 million listeners on the Hot 100 Airplay.
Besides Mariah Carey, Madonna also broke a record with her new single "4 Minutes." It is also a Top 10 hit song, which will be Madonna’s 37th Top 10 hit track, surpassing Elvis Presley with the most Top 10s in the rock era.
