Happy April Fools' Day! Today, you're either pranking, or getting pranked. According to CareerBuilder.com's annual April Fools' survey, 32% of workers say they have initiated or been on the receiving end of an April Fools' Day prank at work. Good times.
Rosemary Haefner, vice president of human resources at CareerBuilder.com, says that April Fools' Day can be tricky.
"Pranking at work can be risky business," she said.
"When determining whether a prank is a good idea on April Fools' Day, employees should consider the worst case scenario of their joke. Will his or her joke simply result in a laugh from fellow co-workers? Or could anybody, including you, lose their job?"
The most common pranks are faking a resignation and gluing office supplies to a desk.
Without further adieu, I give you the top 10 most memorable April Fools' Day pranks from this year's CareerBuilder.com survey:
1. Place a pair of pants and shoes inside a toilet stall in the men's bathroom. After someone notices that it's been there for hours, they'll get worried and call security.
2. Send a fake love note to a co-worker from another co-worker.
3. Have all the women in the office speak privately to the president to tell he or she that they are pregnant.
4. Using a co-worker's name, call the electric company and get the electricity shut off by telling them the co-worker is moving.
5. Fill the vending machine with beer.
6. Rig the boss' chair to make it fall suddenly during a meeting.
7. Place a sign on the bathroom door that reads: "The company has run out of toilet tissue. Please use your own resources."
8. Page a co-worker over the loud speaker claiming that the CEO is looking for him/her.
9. Shrink-wrap everything in a co-worker's cubicle.
10. Place a "house-for-sale" ad in the newspaper regarding a co-worker's home.
