Pelosi Says She Will Not Allow Presidential Race To Harm Congressional Race

After receiving heated responses from a good number of high-profile donors to Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton, US Democratic House Speaker stuck to her guns and addressed them.

A few days ago, several top fundraisers for US Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton of New York had sent a letter to US Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi demanding she change her stance on the subject of superdelegates. Nancy Pelosi had both said that the superdelegates cannot afford to sit on the fence any longer and must quickly pick a candidate along with saying they should get behind the one with the most pledged delegates. The second stance was what drove some of Hillary Clinton’s top donors to send Pelosi that letter. However, this tactic could be perceived as a bad move on the part of Hillary Clinton’s campaign as it could be deemed as bullying. Regardless, Pelosi had stood firm and remained by her argument. Pelosi sent an e-mail in response. She said that the tension cannot be allowed to spill and hurt the Democratic candidates trying to strengthen the majority in the House. In 2006, the Democrats had barely won control in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Pelosi said that the tensions will hurt the Democratic candidates running for Congress. She has given the indication that the tension of the Democratic race cannot allowed to hurt Democrats running for congressional office. She said: “I will do whatever it takes to protect our candidates and make sure their campaigns to drive change forward don’t skip a beat. I need you to do the same.” Pelosi has made it clear; she refuses to be intimidated by anybody. She has let it known that she will not allow the race for the Democratic presidential election to hurt the chances of the Democrats getting a stronger majority in the House of Representatives. While the Democrats are in control of Congress, they have a slim majority. They do not have the required two-thirds majority to override any presidential vetoes. Recently, new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll results have revealed that Clinton’s negative rating has reached a new all time high.
