In Canalumtic, Mexico, a bull has been jailed for destruction of property to a couple of shops and a corn field. The owner must pay for the damages done by the bull before it can be released.
Moises Santiz bought the animal for $400 USD last November. When he let it out to graze on March 1 of this year, the bull disappeared.
The bull was later found tied up to a private patio of an angry resident in Canalumtic, where it was being held prisoner for damages it had done to property.
Santiz refuses to pay any more than the original amount he paid for the bull so the angry residents of Canalumtic decided to have it thrown in the slammer. The bull will not be released from prison until Santiz pays the amount of damages, an amount to be determined by a local judge.
Animal imprisonment is not uncommon in Mexico.
