While a recent Gallop poll has revealed that a little over one-fourth of Democrats that support Hillary Clinton are willing to defect to GOP nominee John McCain, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows Clinton’s negative ratings have risen higher.
Recently, a new Gallop poll had revealed that the Democrats that strongly support Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton of New York are willing to break ranks and side with Republican presidential nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona. This is if Senator Barack Obama of Illinois wins the Democratic nomination.
The poll had revealed the startling information that the Democratic Party is still bitterly divided by the candidates. About 20 percent at least of Obama supporters are willing to defect to McCain should Clinton win the Democratic nomination. There are many factors at play for this explanation.
However, it is not surprising at all.
Now, a recent
poll released by Wall Street Journal/NBC News reveals that the US Democratic race let alone the US Presidential race has hurt Hillary Clinton by putting her in a more unfavorable light. So far, Clinton’s approval rating has continued to drop. In a sense, it mirrors the current job approval rating of US President George W. Bush.
Clinton’s approval rating is now at about 37 percent. The results come at a very hectic month. After the March 4 contests, there has been no clear Democratic nominee. Clinton and Obama are virtually tied at the moment. Then, the issue of race emerged out of the water due to comments by former New York Representative Geraldine Ferraro and Reverend Jeremiah Wright.
Regardless of the negative rating, Clinton is still deadlocked with Obama. At the same time, Clinton’s approval rating parallels that of US President Bush.
