by Nikki Weingartner.
Ryan Ferguson was indicted by a grand jury on charges of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. He allegedly sent lewd and sexually explicit text messages to the student. He was expected to surrender sometime after Easter.
According to a
report from a community paper just outside of Houston, Texas, Ferguson allegedly sent inappropriate text messages to a student, whose name, age and gender has been withheld.
Ferguson is the head coach of the Shepherd High School baseball program and runs the alternative school at
Shepherd ISD.
If convicted, carrying on an inappropriate relationship with a student is a 2nd degree felony and has a maximum sentence of twenty years in prison.
An indictment means that there is enough evidence to proceed to trial. Ferguson is innocent until proven guilty.
He is expected to enter a
Not Guilty Plea.
