Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United's manager, still believes three teams are in the Premier League title race despite his Manchester United side increasing their lead to five points over the weekend.
His side beat Liverpool 3-0 on Sunday while Chelsea inflicted what maybe a fatal blow to Arsenal's title dreams by beating them 2-1 at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United now have to visit Chelsea on April 26 in what will be a pivotal match.
Liverpool were reduced to 10 men when Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano was booked for a second time for dissent and saw red. Speaking to the BBC, Ferguson praised his sides performance;
"It was a really good performance - a performance of maturity."
He said that things were definitely not over;
The title race is going right to end of the season because Chelsea and Arsenal are playing well."
Dider Drogba, Chelsea's two goal hero against Arsenal, said that the result had lifted the team;
The way we celebrated today showed how much the league means to the team."
Meanwhile the result capped an unpleasant series of league results for Arsenal who now find themselves six points adrift of United at the top. However, Arsene Wenger promised that Arsenal would battle on:
We will fight until the end and we are not worried about the future but are disappointed now, obviously."
