Shockingly, Metropolitan police in London have found a nine year old boy who has apparently been abandoned by his family. Authorities now are hoping to trace the whereabouts of the child's family to find out why they would leave him alone in a big city
The frightened little boy, who has told authorities his name is Gurrinder Singh, was found by staff at a local clinic in Southall, in London last Wednesday afternoon. A picture of the boy can be found here.
The abandoned child who was found at the clinic in Harrington Road, told staff he had been left by his uncle at a local bus stop and said that he would return for him, but the man didn't. The child waited until eventually finding shelter at the clinic. The boy speaks very little English and needed an interpreter to understand what the child was saying.
It is thought that the boy had stood at the bus stop waiting for his uncle to come back until he went inside the local clinic. The boy, who can only speak Punjabi told authorities that he has been in the UK for about three years.
The child is now being looked after by social services until his family can be found.
Police think that he had been travelling on a bus from Shepherds Bush, west London.
