One of the main selling points of Senator Clinton's campaign has been that she would be 'Ready from Day One', however the release of her schedules from during her time at the White House casts serious doubt on that claim.
For example, at the beginning of the United States offensive against Serbia in 1999, first lady Hillary Clinton was touring ancient Egyptian ruins, including King Tut's tomb and the temple of Hatshepsut. She dined at the Temple of Luxor, and stayed overnight at the Sofitel Winter Palace Hotel. She was similarly absent during the signing of the Dayton Accords, in November 1995, which ended years of ethnic violence in the former Yugoslavia. Her file lists no public schedule for that day, but indicates she was in Washington
Her role in the Northern Ireland peace process, already questioned by some of the key participants in brokering the Good Friday Agreement, seems also to have been minimal at best. While Catholic and Protestant figures thrashed out details of a power-sharing agreement in Belfast Clinton was at the National Press Club in Washington at a "Hats on Bella" party honouring Bella Abzug, a congresswoman from New York who had recently died. As President Clinton phoned major participants in the peace talks she met with Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel and joined a farewell party for Democratic worker Karen Finney. The day the agreement was signed and sealed she met with Philippine first lady Amelita Ramos.
