An accident on a highway in California has set free somewhere between eight and twelve million bees which were being transported for bee pollination. A flatbed carrying the bees flipped over.
Swarming honey bees are on the lose in California after a truck that was transporting them flipped over.

The Associated Press report says that eight million to 12 million bees escaped Sunday from the crates in which they were stored and swarmed over an area of Highway 99.

The California Highway Patrol states that the bees stung officers, firefighters and tow truck drivers trying to clear the accident.

A tractor trailer on its way to Yakima, Wash. flipped over while entering the highway. The truck's cargo was bee crates each filled with up to 30,000 bees.

Fortunately there were several beekeepers driving by at the time and they stopped o assist in the bee wrangling.

The bees were providing pollination services in the San Joaquin valley.
