What is the state of American journalism? On Monday, March 17, the Project for Excellence in Journalism’s fifth annual State of The News Media report will address this question
The Project for Excellence in Journalism’s (PEJ) fifth annual State of The News Media report will be released tomorrow. The 2008 report will answers this question: What is the state of American journalism?
The report will also contain information and original research on a range of topics such as the economics of advertising to the impact of citizen media sites.
The advance announcement says that every year PEJ examines the status of the news media by producing original research, and compiling and analyzing data on the eight main media sectors of media—print, online, cable TV, network TV, magazines, local TV, ethnic press, and radio. The report begins with our annual overview of major trends.
This year, the report also includes:
* A Year in the News, a new comprehensive content analysis of 70,000 stories from 48 news outlets in five different kinds of media.
* A survey of a cross-section of journalists that reveals how they feel about the future of the profession
* The view of the advertising industry from Madison Avenue
* A content analysis study of 64 citizen media sites
* Links to key industry statistics
