According to reports from officers from West Yorkshire police force, nine year old missing school girl Shannon Matthews (pictured here) has been found alive and well after almost a month of heartache and panic by her family, her community and much of the UK.
There hasn't been an official confirmation yet that the child found is indeed the missing school girl, but it is believed that the police will make a formal statement shortly to confirm the identity of the girl found.
went missing after a school swimming lesson on the 19th of February - there had been no trace of her and police feared that she gone into the clutches of a local offender. As the days went passed, the police and her family started to fear the worst.
She had been last seen on CCTV at Westmoor Junior School where she was a pupil, in Dewsbury, north of England.
It had been, the biggest manhunt since the case of Jack the Ripper. Forces from across the county were in the biggest search for a missing person the UK had ever seen.
Shannon is believed to have been found in the quiet location of Lidgate Gardens in Batley Carr.
West Yorkshire are now questioning a 39 year old man in connection to the abduction of the nine year old school girl. Police had been carefully watching the lone man in his first floor flat and broke down the back door to the property earlier today where they found the child hidden in the base of a divan bed.
She has been reunited with her mother at a police station.
The arrested man is said to be a relative to the girl through her step father.
The police are not releasing any more information at this stage...
