Nelly Furtado To Play At Toronto's Earth Hour

A free concert by Nelly Furtado awaits those in Toronto during Toronto's Earth Hour event. The event is slated at Nathan Phillips Square on March 29. Grammy and Juno winner Nelly Furtado has been named the first Canadian Earth Hour Ambassador.

Cate Blanchett and Natalie Imbruglia are also Earth Hour Ambassadors. The event will be as 'green' as possible. Organizers are taking step to power the event with renewable energy and be as carbon neutral as possible. At 8 p.m. on March 29 cities around the world will turn off their lights for Earth Hour to spotlight awareness about climate change. Millions are expected to participate worldwide. Canada so far is leading the pack with more than 20,000 people, 1,000 businesses and 50 cities pledged to be dark for an hour. Those who are on Facebook can sign up for the event. There are already 624,713 confirmed guests pledged on the Toronto based group for the event. On March 29th, 2008 at 8pm local time Earth Hour will commence ALL AROUND THE WORLD.
