McCarthy urges doctors to accept diet-vitamins combo to ease autism
by Chris V. Thangham.
Actress Jenny McCarthy, who has an autistic son, wants the medical community and insurance companies to recognize that diet and vitamins can help ease the symptoms of autism.
Actress and model Jenny McCarthy is the mother of Evan, 5, who suffers from autism. She is trying to get the
attention of the medical community to talk about the benefits of diet and vitamins that can ease autism symptoms.
She wishes doctors will acknowledge those benefits and start prescribing such methods. The insurance industry doesn’t pay for autism treatments, so she wants them to at least pay for the diet and vitamins to help the families.
She said to the World Entertainment News Network:
"I've been speaking to moms across the country who are all shouting out the same thing: 'This (diet and supplement intake) is working.'"
She finds it hard that the doctors are not paying enough attention, saying, "It's so heartbreaking to see the medical community not support something called diet and vitamins. And it pains us, city after city after city. I see this heartbreak on these mom's faces."
She says the treatment is helping the kids to get better. She plans to fight for this cause until the doctors and the medical industry will accept it.
