by malan.
Watch live (at 4:30 p.m. EST) as the Green Bay Packers hold a news conference to announce the retirement of Brett Favre. The quarterback has flirted with retirement over the last few seasons after 17 years in the NFL.
Watch live as the Green Packers answer press questions related to the official retirement of future NFL Hall-of-Famer Brett Favre. The team is calling the conference a "celebration" of the career of Favre, the leagues only three-time MVP (1995-97) in NFL history.

MSNBC is broadcasting the press conference live right now. View it here.

Favre led the Packers to two Super Bowls, winning the title against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI and losing against the Broncos in Super Bowl XXXII.

The official Brett Favre website lists Brett's top 10 greatest achievements. This list includes Super Bowl XXXI, playing for his father (after his father's death), and a comeback victory at the NFC Wild Card against the Detroit Lions.

Favre statistics:
most career NFL touchdown passes (442)
most career NFL passing yards (61,655)
most career pass completions (5,377)
most career pass attempts (8,758)
most career NFL interceptions thrown (288)
most consecutive starts among NFL quarterbacks (253, 275 total starts including playoffs)
most career victories as a starting quarterback (160).
