Stacey Herald, A 33 year old Kentucky woman, gave birth to her second child, a healthy baby girl, just five weeks ago, but this new mom may have to climb bigger hills when it comes to parenting this child.
Born with
osteogenesis imperfecta, a debilitating genetic disorder that causes her fragile bones to break very easily, Stacey stands just twenty eight and one half inches tall.
Defying the medical opposition that she would never be able to safely carry a pregnancy to term, Stacey stood strong in the face of medical adversity and took the risk. Even when her doctor recommended she abort the unborn fetus for her own safety, this heroic woman held onto faith, hope and love.
Makaia was born eighteen inches in length, only ten and one half inches smaller than her mom.
That is true heroism.
