One day after stating that the talks in Kenya were going nowhere, Kofi Annan has stated that a deal has been struck to end the violence that has raged through the country since the election.
One day after stating that the talks were going no where, Kofi Annan has announced that Kenya's President Mwai Kibaki and opposition leader Raila Odinga have struck a deal to end the post-election crisis.
"We have come to an agreement of a form of coalition government," Mr. Annan said after a four-hour meeting with them.
The BBC report says that Annan could not give any further details as the men were going to consult their political parties.
To date, both sides have previously agreed that there should be a prime minister, where they disagree is on what powers the new post would have.
This is not the first time that an announcement has been made that an agreement has been reached but Annan appears confident that this time it will succeed.
