The Firefox Internet browser reached a golden target of 500 million downloads today, and their parent organization Mozilla is celebrating by raising money to deliver 500 million grains of rice for the UN World Food Program.
Mozilla has withstood the competitors’ onslaught (especially from Microsoft's Internet Explorer) and with perseverance, it has reached a golden target of 500 million downloads.

Mozilla is celebrating this download mark by trying to raise money to donate more than 500 million grains of rice on FreeRice.com. Mozilla asks users to participate in a word game and for every question answered correctly, Free Rice will donate 20 grains of rice through the UN World Food Program to end hunger.

Go play this game here and help fulfill Mozilla’s goal of 500 million grains of rice that will feed 250,000 people for a day.

Marketshare reported Firefox has more than 17 per cent market share and 150 million active users. Internet Explorer is still dominating but mainly because it is preloaded with every computer. It's dominance is slowly diminishing.

Mozilla released Firefox 3 beta 3 recently mainly for developers and its testing community. After testing it, many have said it is one fastest browsers available on the Web.

I love my mozilla. It is handy being able to open tons of tabs in one window, it blocks those popups from hell better than anything I have tried.

It has kinks, but what doesn't. Good report.

I agree, the tabs even when I restart is there again and with Firefox extensions like "Customized Google", Hyperwords, Google Toolbar, IE View (we can watch Internet Explorer customized pages), make Firefox like a mini Desktop on the web. One of the best productive tools. I tried to use the latest IE7 same problems creep crashes or freezes the screen and very slow in browsing sites. The new Firefox 3 will be even better once it is launched.

No surprises here, considering how great Firefox is compared to Explorer. I was converted long ago. Even going on Explorer here and there is kind of jarring, although their tabbed browsing is a big improvement. Something about the function and aesthetic of Firefox is still much more appealing.

I remain an Opera fan. I find Firefox a mess, not much better than IE: slow and relatively unreliable. It certainly is an improvement coming from IE, but coming from Opera, it is not altogether great.

Opera is good, but with the number of extensions for Firefox it is like a mini computer on the web, you can do 100s of things.

With Firefox 3.0 it occupies less memory and it is very fast. I am waiting for the extensions compatibility, only a few extensions work for now. But looks promising.

I'm gonna have to get back on Firefox. I had problems and then got a new computer and it was preloaded with you know what...though I've been telling all about FreeRice.com.

I still like my Acoo browser...and I've tried the others. This one is the fastest loading one I've seen/used. The down-side is there aren't many extensions at all.
