Grandfather Passes Out On Grandson, Killing Him

By KJ Mullins     Feb 15, 2008 in Crime
Young Xavian Cull was just two but had already beaten the odds at two months old battling a heart defect. Sadly, the toddler died when his intoxicated grandfather passed out on top of him earlier this week.
Grandfather David Cull was intoxicated on prescription medicine when he sat on top of the child who had been placed on a soft cushion chair before passing out. A family member woke Cull up at 5 a.m. of Thursday. It was then that young Xavian was found under his grandfather, unconscious and unresponsive.
"His lips were purple, and he had four purple stripes down the side of his face,” grandmother Donna Marie Cull said. “I blew in his face and he wouldn't breathe. His hands were clenched, and he was cold."
The Cull's were the guardians of Xavian and his five year old half sister. The young girl was removed from the home by Child Protective Services Thursday and placed with another relative.
David Cull has been charged with reckless homicide. He is being held at the Carroll County Regional Detention Center in Kentucky. Bond has been set at $5,000 or $10,000 property.
