Valentines Day Massacre: A gunman has started firing in a lecture hall on the Northern Illinois University campus. It is being reported that he has already shot 15 people. Police say the man has a shotgun and a pistol.
Hospitals have been told to prepare for at least 15 victims of the college campus shooting. An alert was issued less than an hour ago by the school saying to avoid the Kings Common area of the campus.
MSNBC is reporting the entire university has been locked down and students have reportedly been making phones calls from the school library.
At least two people have been reported as being down in DuSable Hall and one person was seen with blood all over the back of his head.
Police have surrounded Cole Hall and there are 15-20 ambulances and other emergency vehicles on stand by waiting to see what happens.
At this time no details about the gunman are known.
Updates on this story:
It has been updated (via comments) that the gunman is no longer a threat and The DeKalb school is locked down. Sources are saying now that 18 people were shot in the massacre.
All classes are cancelled and all NIU campuses are closed for tonight and tomorrow (2/15/08).
