The bejeweled bra that singer Shakira wore on her 2007 world tour has sold for $3,000. The bra, designed by Roberto Cavalli, was being sold as part of an auction for a children’s charity.
Shakira, who has said that her “breasts are small and humble” in a song, is selling her wardrobe for the Bare Feet Foundation. The charity will use the money to build a school for children in Colombia.
Some $60,000 has been made so far, with one fan paying $3,000 for the bra and another paying $14,100 to meet Shakira.
Other items being sold include a purple wig and a Gibson guitar used in a music video. A shiny purple skirt with beading earned more than $1,000. However, a costume made of cloth fig leaves did not earn its opening bid of $10,000. The singer wore the Garden of Eden-style outfit on the cover of her Oral Fixation 2 album.
The auction will last until Sunday. Two guitars bearing Shakira’s autograph, an electric Fender guitar and an acoustic Taylor guitar, are still available. Sorry, the auction is out of bras.
