Brian Sterner is a quadriplegic and he was being booked at a Florida county jail on Jan. 29 and this past week a surveillance video of Sterner being dumped out of his wheelchair by a jailer has been making rounds all over the news.
The Chief deputy of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office in Florida saw the video and he called it appalling.
Sterner told a source that stuff like this can happen to anyone at anytime and he is hoping people will understand that now that the video is being shown all over news stations and all over the Internet.
The incident happen when Sterner was being booked in a county jail on a warrant for traffic violation and the incident was caught on video.
The 32-year-old broke his neck 14 years ago and has use of his arms but not his legs. He is now thinking of filing charges against those who were involved in the incident.
The deputy that is shown in the video dumping Sterner on the floor is Charlette Marshall-Jones, 44, and she is now suspended without pay while investigators look into the incident.
Sterner was wheeled into the county jail and Jones asked him to stand up and he told her that he couldn't and the video shows Jones getting up and dumping Stern onto the floor. When Sterner was on the floor the other deputies searched him and than dumped him back into the chair.
Sterner said that Jones never gave any indication that she was bothered by the situation and she was actually smiling all day long as Sterner watched her.
This guy was brought in on a traffic violation and it is very clear that the guy can't walk so this deputy should face assault and battery charges and face serious discipline but I doubt that will happen.
