A major snow storm accompanied by ice pellets, rain and freezing rain is going to once again visit the east Coast of Canada; the closing of schools and other public venues is becoming common.
Three maritime provinces are facing another winter storm as the CBC
reports that New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia are bracing for one more winter blast.
As I type the snow has begun to fall and the wind is picking up. City trucks have been hauling snow steadily for the past two days cleaning up from the last fall just a few days ago. The red warning light blinking in the lower right hand corner of my monitor has become a regular companion.
The 6 am news was announcing the closing of school boards throughout New Brunswick and this is apparently the case in the other two provinces as well.
Ice pellets, rain and freezing rains are also expected.
Severe weather warnings were also in effect for parts of Quebec along the St. Lawrence River, Environment Canada said.
Maritime Electric officials on Prince Edward island are watching the storm closely and it is forecast to hit the island late Wednesday.
Maritime Electric wants to prevent a repeat of a massive power outage at the end of January and into February, when an ice storm left a third of the Island in the dark for several days.
Newfoundland and Labrador will be hit later tonight and Wednesday and early Thursday.
